Monday July 8, 1974 will always be a date that I remember. That was Induction Day for me and my fellow 1978 classmates entering the US Naval Academy. It is the day that opened my eyes in many ways, especially the importance of service to our country. Four unforgettable years that included team building, problem solving, sacrifice, adventure and opportunities to be lead and to lead. It was an incredible experience that completely transformed my life forever. Much of the credit for my instruction and counsel I owe to the then senior first class Midshipmen (USNA Class of 75) in my company (1st Company). It is an honor to once again associate with the great USNA class of 1975 who are sponsoring this incredible upcoming Rowing Challenge in support of a necessary and deserving charitable cause.
After commissioning, I began my Naval career in aviation as a Naval Flight Officer in a P-3 squadron (VP-45) in Jacksonville, FL. This was followed by a tour at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA, a tour on the USS Nimitz as an ASW briefing/debriefing officer and a qualified Tactical Action Officer (TAO), a tour at USNA as a math instructor, a second tour in a VP squadron (V-5), a tour at the Pentagon as a Strategic Nuclear Analyst, and a tour as an analyst in the Missiles Department of the Naval Center for Cost Analysis.
After retirement from the Navy, I worked for Motorola in the Cellular Infrastructure Group followed by a career in Call Center software companies with both Witness Systems, Inc. and Verint Systems Inc.
It is a great honor to once again join a committed group of honorable and service-oriented professionals supporting well-deserving Charitable organizations. I am glad to participate in supporting both the Emily Whitehead Foundation and the Annapolis Rowing Club!
Go Navy!
