Tom Frey

After graduation, Tom entered Naval Flight Training and went on to fly the A-7 Corsair off the USS Enterprise and Coral Sea. His next assignment was operational testing including flying the F-18 Hornet. In 1983, Tom transferred to the Air Force flying F-4 Phantoms and A-7s conducting weapon systems integration testing. He specialized in night attack systems, development of terrain following radars, and electro-optical targeting systems. Tom transitioned to the Air Force Reserves in 1988 with his last assignment as the Deputy Director, Logistics Support Division, Tinker AFB Oklahoma. He retired from the military in 2005. Working for Lockheed Martin, Tom leveraged his flight experience and was the cockpit design lead for F-16 upgrades, the F-22 Raptor, and the F-35 Lightening II. Along the way, rowing became a favorite pastime, skimming the surface of Texas Lakes early in the morning. Tom was a founding member of the Fort Worth Rowing Club and participated in local, regional, and national regattas. He is proud to be able to participate in the GOATs ROW and support these worthy causes.
