I learned to row in High School on the River Thames in England. Back then, when we capsized, the river was so polluted that ambulances lined up on the shore to take us to hospital where we were injected with every antibiotic then known to man. I rowed in much cleaner waters in Oregon for 20 years and have found great joy rowing in Annapolis. So far, no capsizing which is a big relief.
